Glorious Manure

So what is a farm family to do when winter has kept them cooped up?

ROADTRIP TIME!  Mae was so excited to ride in the truck.  One hashbrown later we were on our way….

We traveled about an hour one way last weekend to rent a harrow. Our old harrow has finally bit the dust. No amount of additional welding can save it. So for $60 for the weekend, we rented one.

Why? Well, heavy hay feeding has left us with lots of GLORIOUS MANURE!

MANURE is nature’s ready-made fertilizer. The cows do a pretty darn good job of spreading their fertilizer but most years we offer a little helping hand.

We were blown away by the difference this better piece of equipment made for our manure distribution.

There is a very distinct line where the tractor has been. This should jump-start the spring green up that hopefully is just around the corner.  Or at least, just under the snow…..
